Glossary

A

Aggregator

A platform that combines inventory from multiple providers into a single interface. Bundleport is an aggregator.

All Inclusive (AI)

A board type that includes all meals, drinks, and snacks.

Hotel inventory that is available for booking on specific dates with specific occupancy requirements.

B

Bed & Breakfast (BB)

A board type that includes breakfast.

Bedbank

A type of hotel provider that aggregates inventory from multiple hotels and resells it to travel agencies and OTAs.

Binding Price

When a rate is binding, the provider's gross/suggested price is a minimum selling price that must be respected — you cannot sell below it. It does not change how your margin or commission is calculated; it only sets the floor for your selling price.

Board

Meal plan type (RO, BB, HB, FB, AI). See Board Types.

Booking

A confirmed hotel reservation. Also called a "reservation".

C

Cancellation Policy

Rules and penalties for canceling a booking. Includes free cancellation deadlines and penalty amounts.

Check-in / Check-out

  • Check-in: Date and time when guests arrive at the hotel
  • Check-out: Date and time when guests leave the hotel

Children Ages

Array of ages for child guests. Required for accurate pricing and to apply child-specific policies.

Content API

Connection Code

Identifier for a specific provider connection, used to filter content and bookings by provider.

D

Deduplication

Process of identifying and consolidating the same hotel when it appears from multiple providers.

Destination

A location where hotels are located. Can be a city, region, airport, or point of interest. Identified by destination codes (IATA codes, city codes, etc.).

E

Error Code

Standardized code identifying a specific error condition. See Error Codes.

F

Full Board (FB)

A board type that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

G

Gross Price

Total price including all taxes and fees. See also "Net Price".

H

Half Board (HB)

A board type that includes breakfast and dinner.

Hotel Code

Unique identifier for a hotel. Bundleport normalizes hotel codes across providers.

M

Multi-Provider

Accessing inventory from multiple providers simultaneously. Bundleport aggregates responses from multiple providers.

N

Net Price

The price you pay to the provider (your cost). Does not include your margin. See also "Gross Price" and "Suggested Price".

Markup

The org margin you configure per connection. It is applied on top of the provider gross (not on net) to produce your selling price: markupGross = gross + margin. When no markup is configured, markupGross equals the provider gross.

Normalization

Process of converting provider-specific data formats into Bundleport's standard format.

O

Occupancy

Configuration of guests for a room (number of adults, children, and their ages).

Option

A specific hotel option returned from a search, representing:

  • A hotel
  • A room type
  • A board type
  • A price
  • A provider

Option Reference ID (optionRefId)

Unique identifier for a specific option. Used to quote and book that option.

P

Provider

A hotel inventory source — bedbank, wholesaler, direct chain connection, or GDS — that Bundleport connects to. Each provider is accessed through one or more connection codes. Also called "seller".

Provider Code

Identifier for a specific provider (e.g., "HBDS", "EXPR", "GOG").

Q

Quote

Revalidation of pricing and availability for a specific option before booking. Always quote immediately before booking to ensure accurate pricing.

R

Set of pricing rules for a room type, including base price, cancellation policies, and booking restrictions.

Room Only (RO)

A board type with no meals included.

S

Operation to find available hotels matching your criteria (dates, destination, occupancy, filters).

Suggested Price

The provider's recommended retail / minimum selling price (suggested). It comes from the provider, not from your org margin. Your margin is added on top of it to produce the final selling price (markupGross). See also "Net Price" and "Markup".

Seller

A hotel inventory source (bedbank, wholesaler, direct connection, GDS). Also called "provider".

T

Tracing

Visibility data showing how a request was processed, including per-provider response details and warnings.

W

Warning

Non-fatal issue that doesn't prevent the request from succeeding but indicates a data quality or mapping issue (e.g., unmapped hotel, missing content).

Wholesaler

A type of provider that purchases hotel inventory in bulk and resells it to travel agencies.
